This month’s episode features music mostly from the genre in which I used to previously produce and release music under a different name. The genre in question is trance music, and this month's episode features 12 of the best classics that pushed me towards a music career.
I limit each episode to 12 tracks, so it was pretty difficult deciding which tunes should make the cut out of the contending 28 that I had picked from my old hard drives. I’m surprised that a Tiësto track didn’t make it into this episode considering he, as well as Ferry Corsten and Above & Beyond were my favourite artists of the genre. The Tiësto tracks that I had picked out didn’t quite fit the vibe I was going for; some of his tracks will feature in the next classic mix for sure. I’ll probably do a throwback mix every six months.
Anyway, I’m sure many of you will receive a shot of nostalgia when hearing some of these tunes (depending on your age I guess)! This episode has a bit of everything, uplifting vibes, euphoric melodies, timeless vocals and one or two slightly darker/harder trance records towards the end of the show. These tunes, for me, are the pinnacle of trance music; the modern-day equivalent just doesn’t have that same magic. I’ll never tire of hearing these records.
