Week 11. Something a little more uplifting to help get us through these tough times! Everyone is near enough on lockdown! Crazy! Hopefully, the Coronavirus situation improves soon and as many people as possible make a full recovery!

Anyway, let's get to the uplifting vibes!...

This week's 'tune of the week' comes from Hungarian electronic music producer and DJ, Myon, and the vocals are performed by the amazingly talented Austrian singer/songwriter, Jenn Blosil.

I first discovered Myon about 10 years ago when he was releasing music with his former partner, Shane 54. The pair were responsible for some of the best uplifting and progressive trance music around (in my opinion, of course). I would have said that Myon & Shane 54 were actually my favourite dance music collaborative (after Above & Beyond, who are my all-time favourites). Unfortunately, the pair split up in 2016 and decided to go their separate ways. I was gutted. I've not heard much from Shane 54 since, but, Myon has released a number of awesome releases following the split! If I remember correctly, this week's Smokin' Aces entry was the first solo release to come from Myon after the break-up...

The track in question is titled 'We Are The Ones'; the combination of beautiful piano chords and catchy, well-produced, love-story vocals really help give the production its shot of emotion. Myon did very well to manage the flow of energy in this track; notice how all other sounds/elements subtly fade into the background during the majority of vocal sections. This allows the listener's focus to remain firmly on the vocal performance. At the same time, Myon manages to keep the harmonic foundations in place just enough so that the track doesn't lose its vibe. Unfortunately, there are many tracks out there where the vocal has to compete with other sounds in the production in order to be heard; it can make it really difficult and tiresome to listen to productions like that. Not here. Myon has done a great job of accomodating all elements and sounds in this awesome tune; his skilful production has enabled the listener to fully enjoy the beauty of Jenn's vocal talent. The only time more elements start to tease in, and around the vocal, is when the energy begins to build. This is done to create excitement and anticipation for those awesome synth-heavy drops! Plenty of producers could learn a lot from the skill that's gone into making this track.
