Before we begin!!!

The Smokin' Aces playlist is now available to follow and stream on Spotify, it'll be updated weekly with all the tunes featuring in these blog posts.

Blog entry number 18 sees the beautiful progressive house music record 'Black Mountain' make an appearance. It's the first track that I'd heard from the British electronic music producer and DJ, Marsh. I first heard this when listening to the 'Anjunadeep Explorations 07' compilation, a series of short compilations of music signed to the Anjunadeep record label.

This record is extremely well made; the ambient and atmospheric elements in this track really do well to whisk you away to a deep and contemplative state of mind, especially the singing birds that make appearances throughout the track. I find that they help add life and organic movement to the track when mixed with the other elements in the production. The chord progressions and combination of synthesised sounds and strings are mesmerising; the vocals sound distant, but enticing, teasing in and out of the production, not dominating the track, but enhancing the overall vibe. To top it all off, the groove provided by the drums, percussion and bassline are potent enough to get your head bobbing along. I feel like this track is perfect if you're in the mood for chilling out and switching off; throw this on and let the music transport you away from reality for a little under seven minutes.

If you enjoy this record, make sure to check out more of Marsh's music, not to mention the music being released by the awesome Anjunadeep record label!
