Entry number 23! Bringing some more retro-vibes to the Smokin' Aces blog series.

This week's tune comes from American based, Scottish born, Col Bennett, more commonly known to his fans as FM-84. The track in question is a masterpiece straight out of the Synthwave genre, featuring the emotionally fuelled vocals of Ollie Wride. The track is titled 'Don't Want to Change Your Mind', and much like previous retro-inspired entries in these blog posts, if you're a fan of the Stranger Things soundtrack or the synth-laden 80s, then this will likely appeal!

How would I describe this track? Light, airy, shimmering, yearnful, nostalgic (even though I was only born in 1990), the nostalgia comes from growing up with and watching the old classic movies of the 80s. I first discovered FM-84 in 2016 when I stumbled across his album, 'Atlas'. Much like the track featured in this post, the entire album essentially teleports you back into the 80s, or at least what you might think the 80s would be like for those of us who weren't there!

For me, the album is magical, it just has a special, feel-good vibe. If you love finding new music, make sure you don't miss out on checking the awesome productions of FM-84. Also, if you enjoy Ollie's vocals, he features on three of the album tracks (including Don't Want to Change Your Mind). Like all good music, words can't really describe and portray the feelings these few minutes of music evoke, so my advice is to just check it out and hear it for yourself!
